Have you ever wondered why certain people you work with, live with
or are related to drive you crazy and other folks are so easy
to be around? One of the reasons may have something to do with basic
personality differences. The more you understand how similarities
and differences affect relationships, the more effective you will be
at interacting with those around you. The Myers-Briggs® Assessment
is one tool we use to help you increase your effectiveness.

The
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (or MBTI) is a written assessment that
provides an individual with information about his/her personality
within four key categories:
-
How a person relates to others
-
How a person takes in information
-
How a person makes decisions
-
How a person orders their life
Over
the sixty years since its inception in 1943, the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator® has evolved and been improved through continual
research and development of increasingly accurate questions. The
name of the assessment comes from its designers,
Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. The assessment
is based upon the research of psychologist Carl Jung. CPP
(Consulting Psychologists Press, Inc.), which distributes the
instrument, says this:
After more than 50 years, the MBTI®
instrument continues to be the most trusted and widely used
assessment in the world for understanding individual differences and
uncovering new ways to work and interact with others. More than 2
million assessments are administered to individuals—including
employees of many Fortune 500 companies—annually in the United
States alone. The MBTI family of tools reaches across the globe in
21 languages to help improve individual and team performance,
nurture and retain top talent, develop leadership at every level of
an organization, reduce workplace conflict, and explore the world of
work.

Applications of this
assessment are manifold and can benefit the Individual, Team or
Organization.

Juanita Davies is qualified to administer and interpret the MBTI
and J. Davies & Associates adheres to the ethical guidelines
established by the developers and distributors of MBTI. This means
that we believe:
-
All types are valuable; no type is better,
healthier, or more desirable in any way.
-
Because MBTI is an Indicator or
Assessment and not a test, there are no right or wrong
answers.
-
Type does not imply excellence, competence, or
natural ability, only what is preferred.
-
Results provide a working hypothesis, a starting
point for further exploration.
-
The respondent is the expert; the only person who
can verify which type fits best.
-
Results are given directly to the respondent as
part of an active discussion with a qualified administrator.
-
Type results are confidential and not given to
anyone besides the respondent without permission.
At J.
Davies & Associates, we use the administration and interpreting of
MBTI as part of a Personal Development discussion, a Team Building
workshop, an Executive Coaching session or as part of a Management
or Supervisory Development process.
